On 30 April, during the National Shelter/NFI Cluster Meeting, the humanitarian organisation Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe presented an important project aimed at supporting more than 2,000 vulnerable households in Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions

The first meeting of the HLF Localisation Programme Steering Committee was held, an important step towards transparent and participatory decision-making, transfer of resources to local organisations and strengthening the role of civil society.

The application period for the Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe grant programme ended at the end of March. Currently, the selected participants have received notifications and are undergoing the final stage – interviews about their business ideas

True localisation is not just about transferring resources. First and foremost, it is about trusting local actors and recognising their right to participate in policy-making, programme planning and fund allocation on equal terms with international partners

The participants discussed the key priorities of the HLF Programme, approaches to evaluating grant applications, selection criteria and challenges that local organisations may face. The meeting was not only the start of the grant process, but also a platform for open dialogue, exchange of experience and deepening of mutual trust.

The programme aims to strengthen the role of local NGOs in humanitarian response. It is in line with Help’s global strategy and localisation policy, promoting the principles of equal partnership, responsibility and sustainable development.

Recently, we presented a grant program in Uzhhorod, where veterans learned about the conditions of participation and received consultations.

At the event, Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe presented the Help Localization Facility (HLF), a program of direct funding for Ukrainian humanitarian organizations.

This week, the Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe team in Ukraine hosted colleagues from the head office who came on a working visit to evaluate the implemented projects and further strategic planning.
