During the National Shelter/NFI Cluster Meeting on 30 April, Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe presented the project ‘Solid Fuel Supply for the Heating Season 2024-2025’ aimed at supporting more than 2,000 vulnerable households in Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions.

We delivered 3.5 tonnes of briquettes to each household ahead of the winter, giving priority to people with disabilities, single parents, the elderly and large families. The project ensured timely delivery through advance procurement, diversification of suppliers and close coordination with clusters and local authorities.

To avoid seasonal delays and cost increases, procurement began in the summer and deliveries were completed by November for 90% of beneficiaries. We ensured quality and efficiency through supplier diversification, close coordination with the Shelter cluster, RAIS+ deduplication and cooperation with local authorities. Key results showed the importance of advance planning, clear packaging quality standards and targeted door-to-door delivery to reduce the logistical burden on vulnerable beneficiaries.
