Multisectoral emergency initiative to meet basic needs and restore livelihoods in the most affected frontline districts in Ukraine

In response to the ongoing effects of the war in the Kharkiv region, our organisation is implementing a comprehensive multi-sector project aimed at supporting the most vulnerable segments of the population. The initiative combines vital humanitarian aid with solutions that strengthen community resilience, helping people not only to overcome the crisis, but also to restore their dignity, self-sufficiency and confidence in the future.

Project objective:

To improve the living conditions, resilience and dignity of vulnerable populations affected by the conflict in the Kharkiv region by providing life-saving multisectoral humanitarian assistance.

To provide essential humanitarian assistance and promote resilience and recovery among the most vulnerable populations in the Kharkiv region.

Activities

To achieve this objective, the project applies a multisectoral approach consisting of five outcomes:

  • food security;
  • livelihoods;
  • WASH;
  • shelter;
  • health and education.

Each outcome addresses priority needs identified during field assessments and is aligned with the Humanitarian Response Plan (HNRP). The aim is not only to alleviate immediate suffering, but also to restore dignity, autonomy and self-reliance to affected communities.

Ensured food security and access to productive opportunities for the most vulnerable communities affected by the conflict.

  1. Provision of agricultural tools to 500 households
  2. Provision of vouchers for beekeeping equipment to 70 households.
  3. Provision of vouchers for animal feed to 350 households.

Ensured access to water, sanitation and hygiene for the most vulnerable people affected by war, with special attention to people with disabilities and the elderly, women, girls and minorities.

  1. Provision of hygiene and dignity kits to shelter residents, particularly women and girls
  2. Rehabilitation and construction of water towers and pumps.

Provided basic necessities and support for adequate and decent housing for the most vulnerable people affected by the war, including displaced persons and those returning to areas of origin.

  1. Replacement of windows damaged through airstrikes in critical infrastructure.

Ensured that the most vulnerable communities affected by the conflict have access to quality basic health services, including maternal/infant and mental health services.

  1. Provision of essential medicines, medical equipment, and surgical supplies.

Ensured inclusive, gender-responsive and disability-responsive access to safe learning environments (online and offline) for learners and teachers. (Safe Sky (local partner))

  1. Provision of inclusive learning materials to children from rural areas.
