Strengthening Communities and Enhancing Resilience for Vulnerable Groups Across Ukraine

The project provides flexible mechanisms to quickly adapt to new challenges and changing priorities. This may involve reallocating resources, revising timelines, and continuously assessing and reassessing the situation on the ground. By remaining flexible and responsive, the project can better support the most vulnerable populations and contribute to sustainable recovery in the face of an ongoing war.

The project focuses on a comprehensive approach to addressing the immediate needs of affected communities, strengthening cooperation with local authorities and humanitarian partners to ensure effective assistance.

The project consists of key activities:

Multipurpose cash assistance (MPA) for IDPs in the western regions
The team in Uzhhorod provides newly evacuated and vulnerable groups with one-time cash transfers for up to three beneficiaries per household. The assistance is provided to residents of Zakarpattia, Lviv, Volyn, Chernivtsi, Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

Rapid Response Unit for Kharkiv Oblast
Supporting residents of houses damaged by shelling through cash payments made in partnership with the Safe Sky Charity Foundation.

Grants for microbusinesses
Providing financial assistance to entrepreneurs displaced to the western regions: Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi and Khmelnytsky regions, more details at the link

Providing business grants for microbusiness owners in Dnipropetrovs’k, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson and Chernihiv regions at the link

Mentoring and business support
200 entrepreneurs from Kyiv and 150 from the western regions receive mentoring support and access to educational sessions on business management, finance, and marketing.

Advocacy activities
Organization of public events to promote the priority of small businesses and improve international communication. We plan to engage local entrepreneurs and create informational materials.

Preparing for the winter
Providing critical infrastructure facilities (hospitals, schools, etc.) with materials for insulation and energy efficiency. We plan to assess the feasibility of using renewable energy sources. We will also provide 3.5 tons of solid fuel for vulnerable households (people with disabilities, the elderly, large families, etc.).

Support for people with disabilities
In Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions, 48 trainings will be held for 800 professionals working with people with disabilities. It is expected that 11,200 visits will be made to provide comprehensive assistance. Inclusive ramps, elevators and accessible toilets will be installed in temporary accommodation facilities for 90 people with reduced mobility. The project is being implemented in government-controlled areas in the western, central and eastern regions of Ukraine, covering IDPs and local residents affected by the war.

The project adapts to changes in the humanitarian situation, providing effective assistance to those who need it most.
