“I was impressed by the motivation, atmosphere, and engagement of the team in Ukraine,” shared Anja Weidner, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Coordinator, after her two-week visit to Ukraine.

Anja visited Kharkiv and Kyiv, meeting with partners BO Safe Sky and the Relief Coordination Centre (RCC) to review completed initiatives and plan next steps. Key priorities include raising awareness about explosive ordnance risks and providing first aid training to communities in Kharkiv region.
She also supported the Help Localization Facility (HLF) team in preparing workshops for local organizations aimed at strengthening their capacity to develop strong project proposals.

In Kyiv, Anja conducted an internal training for the Help team to enhance understanding of MEAL tasks within the project cycle management.
“Monitoring and evaluation is not just about reviewing documents. It’s about being on the ground, seeing with your own eyes, and hearing people’s voices,” Anja said.
She emphasized that all MEAL activities aim to improve current and future projects:
“If we find proof our work is relevant, we can build on it. If not, we learn how to make it better in the future.”
