Our support takes the form of grants for equipment, tools and materials to help them resume or continue their business activities.
Since 2023, Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe in Ukraine has been running annual grant programmes for entrepreneurs affected by the war: from the loss of suppliers, markets, material and labour resources, and disrupted supply chains, to the complete destruction of production facilities.
In just two weeks, this year’s programme received 422 unique applications from across Ukraine. Following two consecutive selection stages, contracts with the selected entrepreneurs were signed just three months after the application deadline.
According to a survey of applicants, 82–92 per cent of respondents across various vulnerable groups stated that the war had negatively impacted the activities providing their household income, and that these consequences have yet to be overcome. At the time of application, 63–68 per cent were at high risk or had already resorted to negative coping strategies.
All grant recipients have now purchased their equipment. Audits of financial and descriptive reports, as well as monitoring activities, are ongoing.
The ecosystem is interdependent: disruptions in supply, production, logistics and access to goods and services affect not only the economy but also family incomes and the most vulnerable people’s access to essential needs.
