Visit by an Expert in Psychological Trauma to Help

How does war affect the psychological well-being of children and adults, and what approaches can help address the consequences of traumatic experiences? These were among the key questions at the centre of Professor and psychotherapist Dr. Stefan Herpertz’s visit from Germany to Help’s Uzhhorod office. During his visit, he had the opportunity to learn more about the team’s work firsthand and speak with people who have experienced traumatic events.

Our Uzhhorod office welcomed Professor and psychotherapist Dr. Stefan Herpertz from Germany, who specialises in the study of psychological trauma and its impact on people’s lives.

The purpose of the visit was to gain a deeper understanding of how traumatic experiences, particularly those related to war, affect the emotional state, everyday life and psychological well-being of adults and children.

As part of the visit, several individual interviews were conducted with participants, allowing for a deeper exploration of their personal experiences, feelings and the changes that had taken place in their lives as a result of traumatic events.

The professor also took part in activities with children, observing their interactions, emotional responses and participation in psychological and creative activities.

The visit made a very positive impression on him. He highlighted the high level of organisation and the importance of our work. The professor also expressed his interest in further cooperation.

Such an exchange of experience is important for gaining a better understanding of the needs of people who have experienced traumatic events and for developing effective approaches to psychological support for both children and adults.
